MM25 – Monochrome Madness 25

Welcome to another week of Monochrome Madness and I hope you enjoy this weeks photos.

To start with let’s talk about next week, MM26, it seems we are going with the idea of monochrome images that are actually colour images but they look like they are monochrome.  So the images will look like monochrome, but when you look more closely you will see they are colour.  I don’t want to put people off, so we might do two galleries, one for the theme and one for those that don’t want to do it.  I think it will be a great week, but first let’s do this week, also another great week of images.

Waiting for the Rain, Sorrento Back Beach

This isn’t the first time I have shown you this photo, I showed the colour one a couple of weeks ago.  It is also from the Sorrento Back beach, and it was taken just before the rain hit, you can see the rain in the distance.

Laura Macky is taking a few weeks off while she recovers from her surgery, I’m sure I won’t be the only one to miss her images and participation here.  I hope you recover soon Laura.

Don’t forget all the instructions on how to enter your own images are at the bottom of the post.  If you have entered an image then please remember to check your image in the gallery, scroll down and see if anyone has left you any comments.

Now, if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is leanne@leannecole.com.au
  • The image size should be as small as it can be, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • Please insert either your name or your blogs name in the file name.
  • Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Wednesday morning.
  • If you need more help with sending images, and get confused about time zones, etc, well, there is a great website called The World Clock, if you go to that and look at Melbourne time, if it’s before 6pm on Tuesday evening, then you can still send me images.  If it’s after that time, you can send me an image, but it will be set aside for the following week.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.
  • Please remember to resize your images, it is fairly simply, you just need to go into any editing software and usually under Image you will find, resize, scale, or image size, something like that and you can resize your image there. Change the dimensions to pixels and make the longest side 1000 pixels or smaller, hit return, and for most types of software that should change the other side automatically as well. Just remember to save it with a different name so you know it is the smaller version.  If you have any problems, please contact me, I don’t mind helping out.

Please note you don’t have to be a WordPress blogger to be in this challenge, you can have a link to a Facebook page, a Flickr page, anywhere really, or no link.  We just want to encourage people to do monochrome images, just for the madness of it. Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.  I respect your copyright and would never keep any of the images.

  8. Amazing, amazing, amazing once again. So glad to see such fantastic images once again from the regulars, and great to see submissions from some new people too.

Leanne, I just love the mood you set in your image. So well done. I’m realizing that landscape images are much more difficult than I anticipated.

    • Absolutely Shane, so many great images, and more. I love seeing new names popping up in my email inbox.

Thank you, it turned out quite different to what I thought it would. I am starting to realise the same about landscape images, but I was trying something different here and I like the result.

The people shots are really standing out to me this week… are there more today or is it the way I’m reading the gallery?

  17. A great milestone reached, and a fine collection of images this week. Thanks for all your hard work Leanne, I know how time consuming it must be, putting this together every week. But its a credit to you, I’m sure that many others will agree with me when I say, I have learned loads from participating and got to know some really cool people as a result,
    Here’s to the next 25 weeks :-)

    • It is Ed, you have just about done every week, haven’t you? You’re welcome, it does take a bit of work, but to get comments like this really make it worth it, so thank you.

  20. Leanne, you must of the gift of encouragement. Thank you for promoting the photography of all us unknowns.

  21. Another strong week for MM, Leanne; there are some lovely shots here! … and you’ll find a first submission in your in box from me today; thanks for the opportunities for sharing perspectives and inspirations.

  22. What a great selection this week. Are you looking for images next week where a single colour in all its shades is the ‘mono’ in monochrome (which is I think the true meaning of the word)?

  23. Hi Leanne, I left a note of thanks under the post of my photo but wanted to leave another here if that is okay? The work you put into this is absolutely impressive. It is such a great forum to see so many great images which in turn lead us to the seek out the work of some fabulous photographers – for all of this I thank you. And of course i thank you so much for posting my image.

    • I saw the note, and thank you so much for that. That is great, I do enjoy seeing it all come together and it is great to see how many people enjoy MM, it makes it worth it. You’re so very welcome.

  24. Leanne, as MMC is making it’s run to the halfway mark, you and Laura should be so very proud of what you have done here. So many photographers new to black and white/monochrome are really cutting their teeth here in this wonderful challenge. I am definitely one of them. I have learned such a great deal from participating and seeing what others are posting. And it has taught me such a great deal about shadows and light and contrast that has, in turn, improved my eye in identifying a good from a poor scene to shoot, whether black and white or color. Thanks so much for continuing to pilot this ship, for all of us! I’ve missed the past three weeks, and I’ve missed being a part of it. I need to once again get back in the rhythm!

    • Thank you so much, it has been an amazing trip so far, so many great photos and new people all the time. That is fantastic to hear, so good that you have learned so much, I have as well, it has been incredible. I am sure you will get back into it soon.

Just the most amazing images every week Leanne and such talented photographers. Great selection hon. :D

  26. Another gorgeous batch. Well wishes to Laura.

I sent in a monochrome image for next week. I think I may also have one that’s nearly monochrome. I’ll try and find that to send. I noticed it after I took I looked at it on the computer and thought…hey, that’s kind of like what Leanne was talking about. Barely-there color. :)

    • It is another great batch.
I got it Nia, if you have another one, send it and I can use the one you already sent for the week after if you like. :D
