MM22- Monochrome Madness Week 22

It is upon us once more.  Another good week with lots of images.  This week has been funny, so much happening, and so many images coming in.  I hope you enjoy this weeks madness. We had a couple of suggestions for what to do for the six month anniversary, one was to get everyone to take monochrome images, so look for things to photography that are already monochrome, if that makes sense.  I thought maybe we could all post our favourite image.  Or we can just do it like every other week, anymore suggestions?

On Sunday I had a Social Snappers Excursion and we went to the Royal Exhibition.  I saw the gorgeous building reflected in the glass of the Museum. I like how abstract it is.  I will put the colour version up on the News Blog on my website.

Laura Macky has submitted the above image, she is making good use of her macro lens I think, and if you want to read more about her post then go to Hidden Away.

Don’t forget all the instructions on how to enter your own images are at the bottom of the post.  If you have entered an image then please remember to check your image in the gallery, scroll down and see if anyone has left you any comments.

Now, if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is
  • The image size should be as small as it can be, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • Please insert either your name or your blogs name in the file name.
  • Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Wednesday morning.
  • If you need more help with sending images, and get confused about time zones, etc, well, there is a great website called The World Clock, if you go to that and look at Melbourne time, if it’s before 6pm on Tuesday evening, then you can still send me images.  If it’s after that time, you can send me an image, but it will be set aside for the following week.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.
  • Please remember to resize your images, it is fairly simply, you just need to go into any editing software and usually under Image you will find, resize, scale, or image size, something like that and you can resize your image there. Change the dimensions to pixels and make the longest side 1000 pixels or smaller, hit return, and for most types of software that should change the other side automatically as well. Just remember to save it with a different name so you know it is the smaller version.  If you have any problems, please contact me, I don’t mind helping out.

Please note you don’t have to be a WordPress blogger to be in this challenge, you can have a link to a Facebook page, a Flickr page, anywhere really, or no link.  We just want to encourage people to do monochrome images, just for the madness of it. Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.  I respect your copyright and would never keep any of the images.

      • Maybe one next week, I took a lot of pictures on vacation. I’ve been so busy lately I’ve hardly had time to sit and play with photos in photoshop these days!

      • If you can Em, that would be great. I know what you mean about busy, I’m trying to find some time now.

  3. Thank you for choosing my image this week! Always a beautiful gallery to inspire me to do more monochrome photography.

    • No thanks needed for that Tamara, thank you for submitting it. It is very inspiring, I love seeing what people do, always gives me ideas.

I know why I was so drawn to that image. My daughter won a competition with Edifice, a piece she did several years ago and one of my favorites.

I am so in love with monochrome; I could be here all day looking at these images if I didn’t have to work. <3

    • Wow, that is amazing Jackie, it is carved into wood, a photo with a wood texture on it. Looks amazing.
That is fantastic to hear, this is certainly the highlight of the week on this blog.

      • Jackie Saulmon Ramirez says

I’m not sure. She has done some on wood. The one of the little cabin won her $8,000 and that was on wood. Her specialty is printmaking at the moment.

      • I did printmaking, I did it in Uni, I loved lithography most. Sounds like your daughter is very talented and printmaking is what came to mind when I saw the image, oh so maybe it is a woodcut, that would make sense.

  7. Another great week – I like your monochrome in B&W thought – I’m going to keep an eye out for something.

    • It has been Robert, and thank you, it is hard to find the right thing, but I’m sure you will, glad can be so good for that sort of thing.

  16. Um ya, so it looks as though we had another stellar week this week. But, how good is that bike shot? It’s surely the shot of the week, and that says a lot because there are so many good ones here. It’s just spectacular.

    • Then you should do MM, that is what it was set up for, so we would challenge ourselves to do more, I will be looking for your image now.
