Last night was another field trip and we went to the Yarra Boulevard and took some photos of the city. I used my remote shutter release and let it take long exposures of bracketed shots while I supervised the others. It worked quite well. I wasn’t that interested in taking too many shots as I have done these before.
The above image is not something I have taken before and it was a new spot we tried. I think it was great, and think it would be great to go back there some time when the sun is setting.
The image is a HDR, I don’t think I would have been able to get the detail in the sky if it wasn’t a HDR. I should have a look at the straight images and see what i can do with them.
I zoomed in more for this image. No idea if it is better, though you lose a lot of the detail that is in the sky.
I have some others, that I will try posting later today.

I find the second image more attractive – its been ages since I went into the city at night. Looking at this I miss it.

Sounds like you want to be right in the image. I love the city, you need to go and explore at night, it is so different.

Like the unzoomed version better. I feel that the sky adds drama.

I think I am with you, I like the sky in it. Thanks for telling me what you think.

I love your cityscape shots…wish I could think of a good place to get one of Providence that would include the waterfront at night…

A boat maybe, I don’t know without knowing the place, perhaps you just need to think about it some more or for a while. I usually have to think about things a lot before I do anything.
The cityscapes are great and I think part of the reason is because the city is not very big and is well contained so you can do the whole thing.

I was pretty happy with how it came out as well. I thought the clouds in the sky really added to it and turned it from ordinary to something else. When are you off to Canada to live?

Yes, you should go and do some, it is so amazing what you get. It is always a surprise. Nothing at all like photographing in the day.
